Quick run down

Not sure that a certain developer is still here at this forum, don't want to say his name because I don't see how that would make anything different or better than it is.

He not only took money on May 1st for what he said would be a 20 day project and it's still not done but now won't reply to me via email or facebook message. I discovered recently that he has a big adsense banner of his on my site and no one so far can figure out how it's on there or where it's at. For example here's what the person that I had looking at it today wrote back.. "His code is in the center, I'm struggling to find where he embedded it though. It's not in the page or index.php files where you might expect to find it, and I've looked through all of the other files I can think of. I wish I could help you out more, but I really can't"

So now I'm stuck having to find someone to either complete the work or start all over. My problem with starting all over is that it's an older name and a site with a lot of pages, at least over 4,000 with a lot of pages indexed and it ranks good in google so I don't want to mess that up.

Looking for someone extremely good with code, feeds, blog rolls, api's, must know which pages should be no follow, and do follow so I don't get hit with duplicate content, how to work with the currently indexed pages and maintain the current google position.

The site will consist of working with some of the latest video and news optimization techniques, v-bulliten, financial tools, stock market streamers, portfolio tools, tag clouds, adsense placement

Must be all around great with developing sites and how to work with the type of site described.

This is a serious project to me and I want it done right but that being said I do not have an open pocket book so please be reasonable.

It's currently in wordpress but I'm open to suggestions.

The kicker... I'm always great with paying debts on time every time but it seems like I'm pretty good at finding people who are not good at doing the work they have been paid to do so no matter what, I will not pay a large amount of money if any up front. We can make an agreement to pay after so many things get done or make a suggestion to me, I'll listen to your ideas.

Next up... I don't know if you checked it out, and I'm just grasping at straws here, but have you looked to see if the code is possibly being called by a css style sheet? Kind of like how you use the style sheet to include a header/logo graphic.

Example:

background: url("/images/header.jpg")
repeat-x top left; }

That or maybe he has hidden it with a little base64 encoding???

I know he mentioned at one time it being css made things easier but I don't have any idea. You can see just by looking at the view source code his google pub id is different than mine.

I haven't had very many responses.

Any ideas where I might want to look for a developer. An example of a site I like the look of is ForexTraders.com

Can't help with a developer as the few times I've tried to find one myself I ended up with nothing but flakes. In the end I've always just found pre-made scripts/software that I'd (eventually) get my head around and be able to customize enough to be usable (though not the best solutions) for the particular site's topic. I'm not a coder or designer but have learned enough and have enough patience to be able to kludge things together and end up with a functional site.

Some day when I have the time and resources I'll actually find better solutions but in the mean time at least the sites are building traffic and producing income -- though I'm sure they could be far more attractive and functional with custom coding.

I know, trust me I really don't want to see this have to start all over again but there's so much that's not currently working. All of the financial tools/calculators are no longer working including the fetch stock quotes option, many of the thumbnail pics are not showing the pictures and the ones that are are not updating. The big in the spotlight picture and article on the home page isn't updating.

One of the big things it was supposed to have was a portfolio tool so people could login and keep an eye on specific stocks in their own portfolio. The V-Bulliten forum hasn't been added, there are some coding errors I've found and there's some visual things needing done.

There's all that and quite a bit more so even if I stayed with wordpress there's a fair bit of work to be done.

I even wondered if it would work good to have designed a few of the main pages and tools by a professional company and keeping the wordpress pages behind those.

I've done plenty of work with wordpress... kinda my specialty now.
I can take a look at the site. Feel free to PM me with the site details and I will first off see if I can get rid of the ad code, if so we can work from there. Wordpress is a great cms if used correctly, so I really would not suggest using something different unless necessary.

Hey,

Saw the site from your signature. Can't really help you make the site, but for a start, sorry to tell you but your developer seems to have tricked you. The wordpress theme is a pre-designed theme available in the market worth $40. It's not a custom theme. I know which theme it is.

As for the ad it is either from the css or from the theme's custom options itself. You will need access to the wordpress admin for that.

As far as the question about flash, I honestly don't know the answer to your question. Besides the big flash intro echotradeonline.com is nice and seo.com is nice and uses jquery. Both those sites use of some the types of technologies I want if it's developed away from wordpress.

Hey glaxxon, I'm not sure the word I'd use is tricked but he did something to me, that's for sure. I'm in a hell of a spot finding someone I feel that has done comparable work to do this. As for the ad, I still haven't found it and it's not so much that I may be losing revenue but more that he's probably been doing this since May 1st and gaining revenue.

I believe you about the theme, he did say it was a custom theme and here's what is says in the "edit themes" Style.css
