Small program required - paid job

Hi,

This is a paid job. Please PM me if you're interested with a rough idea of what this would cost. If your quote is in the ball park, I will get back to you with full details of the job and we can then set a final price. It's not a big job and I could nut it out and do it myself, but that would a slight learning curve for me and time, and I'd rather pay for someone who can do it quickly. I will have more similar projects in future so there would be a bit of ongoing work. I repeat that it is not a big job - quite small in fact, but it is a paid job nevertheless.

I need a small program written to take information from a list and insert it into a template, and then save the template as a HTML file.

The list has 600 lines, with three data fields, but future lists could be smaller or bigger.

The data in each line comprises three fields. The information in each field is inserted into the template and the template is then saved as a new HTML file. The idea is to end up with 600 web pages. Each page created takes the file name of the first word in the line (first data field).

I also require an alphabetical index of the pages created. This would add a further 26 pages.

This doesn't have to be a program that has bells and whistles. The simpler the better. It can be written in any language you like so long as I can run it off the desktop (either from Windows or the DOS command line), and as long as it spits out the 600 new web pages with the relevant info and the index pages. In fact, the simpler the better.

I require both the exe file and the source code (in case the program needs to be modified later).

Thanks
rodash

He says he doesn't mind as long as it can be run from windows or from a command line. I would hazard a guess however that languages that require a runtime library might not be so good tho such as PHP.

But i'm unsure about is it easy to install/run php from desktop.

At one side he want something for desktop, i see there some of following languages as best VB, Delphi, Java, ...
But some of them are not so easy to install/understand, because he wants a source code to change it later, and some of them cost money.

PHP is good too, but there would be possibly better solution for what he wants. I mean its not necessary to create such amount of pages if you can create them at runtime, or using DB. (but then there is no exe)

Read my response again you will see that is basically what I have said. For a php script to run on the desktop or command line PHP needs to be installed on the pc it is being used on. A better language to use might be for example c++ as it is a compiled language and can run independently.

He does state that he wants the source code but doesnt mean that he himself will be adapting it.
