![]() ![]() ![]() | Finding a developer, beyond the freelancer sites... I've got a project that I am planning that I believe will be very big. It's a unique idea that is well-needed. Because of this, I'm trying to think of the best place to seek out a developer. I'm afraid to go to the freelancer sites and explain it publicly, or hire someone I don't know half way around the world that could possibly take the idea and run with it or sell it to someone else. Paranoid? Maybe. But, it's the best idea I've had in years. It's going to involve database, PHP, and Ajax and some decent design work. But, then again, it's not a huge project, it's a relatively small-to medium project to begin with. I'm willing to pay for a great developer; going for the lowest bid it not the important thing. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-development-wanted/359062-finding-a-developer-beyond-freelancer-sites.html Any ideas on how to conduct a search for such a developer? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I guess I'm looking for a site that has a list of developers, their skill sets and their locations. There must be something like this around. I'm in California so it would be easy to personally visit someone about it. If there isn't something like this someone should start it that's for sure. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You could phone up a recruitment agency and tell them you have a 2 month php contract you need fulfilled, you'll have to pay a fee to the agency obviously, but they should be able to send you a lot of cv's and you would be hiring directly (i.e. you're hiring an individual ) Not meaning to be a wiseacre, but a search on google does turn up quite a few web development companies in LA... http://www.google.com/search?q=php+d...in+los+angeles (though I expect they would charge you at least double what they're paying the same php contractor you could have hired yourself...) This site looks professional, and they appear to be long established, and have some good clients/projects under their belt: http://www.myprogrammer.com/contact.html You could cut out all the middle men, by looking up your local PHP user groups, and then joining their forums/mailing lists: http://www.phpclasses.org/browse/gro...ry/country/us/ Google Group for PHP Users in Orange County: http://groups.google.com/group/OC-PHP

![]() | If you join a freelance website, you don't have to explain exactly everything that need to get done. You can be vague and once you find a programmer, you can have him sign a NDA agreement. |
