Cost Estimate Needed

I am planning on developing a website on the lines of Craigslist. How much would it cost to design a similar site? And how much time would the design to go live phase take? Ballpark figures are fine.

I would appreciate cost estimates for this project from experienced web designers and/or webmasters.

I would be needing a web designer. I have no clue how to go about the designing part. I have a rough idea of how much my domain hosting and maintenance costs would be. I would like inputs on the designing cost and time to complete.

Well it all depends on how big you want to go. Like craigslist they have cities all over the US along and international cities. I say start small, it will help keep costs down and will be easier to keep track of. And then grow from there. It will cost a little bit of money to create the database and it all depends on how nice of a design you want for the site. Since you didn't give many specs on how you want the site, it could cost you anywhere from $3,000-$10,000.

Very true Orange. I would like to start off with around 5 major US cities with lesser categories. As far as the design, I would prefer a simple layout but with changes to the header ( a nice logo and banner). Besides that, users would need to submit their free ad content and verify via email before the ad is published.

So you think, this would cost me between $3-10K? And what about the time factor, given the above requirements?

With the above requirements, you could get a complete site for $2k with site expansion built in so it won't cost you much more when you want the site to grow to other cities/countries.

I dropped you a PM With my contact and quote - The quote I provided might seem dum becuase I didnt see the last quote from oranges post. Wasn't sure how many pages or how big. Heres a much more accurate quote for you and times, details such.

I can do a custom banner, Logo, tables, and everything using CS2 and that will look great. So the site wont look cheap or anything.

Hosting will vary depending how big you wanna be and how many pages will need to be hosted I think something like 250GB Disk Space and Unlimited Bandwidth will work which will cost $112 a year which is a great price.

Domain (Depending How many you are wanting to add on or park) Figure $8.95 a piece at somewhere like Godaddy

Website Design, Coding, Programming everything I can do for $450
That would Inlcude

All Custom Logos, Banners, Layouts, Everything to what your looking for...We can tweak this to the exact colors text and everything. And I can provide the PSD'S so you can edit them if you need in the future.

All Programming, Flash, HTML, coding and everything done

The $450 would also include up to 75 Pages of work
Any pages past that will be $5 a page (If you need a lot more then 75 We can work out something depending on how complex the pages you want)

We can complete the site in less then a month - Give or take I think and again its goign to vary by how many pages will be needed and how complex

If you grow in the future or want to expand I can help you out with that as well.

So heres the numbers -
Design - $450 - 75 Pages
Domain (x2) $8.95
Hosting - $112
