| NamePros Regular | Gaming site needed to be created I recently had an ingenious idea for a review-based website, which is the reason I cannot go into much detail about what the site will be about. Without revealing much information, the website will contain various reviews with a one-paragraph explanation of our review, a "1-10 Stars" system with star images to display the rating given, an image of the site/service/product being reviewed, and a link at the bottom. I can, however, describe exactly what I need and want to be done. Let's get to it. ========== I need: - A website, similar to the look of http://www.MODDB.com (NO, not a copy of their template). I would like something similar to that site, where a user can go and think "okay, games. Cool." - I need enough room for a 468x60 banner to fit at the top underneath a header. The header will contain the logo and various links. I also need enough room for a 120x600 skyscraper ad to be placed on the left or right side of the page. This will make the page have a "fixed" style, or the common appearance of a portal. Check http://www.MODDB.com for what I mean about the layout being "fixed", with space on either side of the mid-content. - A user registration system where users can enter their email address, password, time format and desired username. I would like the registration system to send out an activation email that, when a link was clicked from within it, would activate that user's account. - A poll system, similar to the one in-place at http://www.MODDB.com, that fits neatly into the right side of the page. - A search box that would search the site for keywords and key terms and display the results on a new page. - To be able to place JavaScript codes on the page as well as iframes. - A review system. The review system must display a description/explanation of our review, a review title at the top, a "X/10 stars" rating display with mini star images, a pricing table where we would list the prices for each service/product we review, and a link to the product/service's website. - The ability to load forums within the page's mid-section. I already have Invision Power Board, which I will install onto my server once the site is complete. I would like these forums to show inside the page's mid-section when a user clicks the "Forum" button. - An external (not within the page) CSS file containing the colors, font settings, etc. for the site. - The big ba-bang - an administration backend. This will need to be simple to use, yet contain sections to edit any major portion of the site. I would prefer to have an administration backend similar to those included with CMSs (Content Management Systems), where the administrator can view a panel of links that say "Main Page Settings | Forum Settings", etc. I would need my backend to contain: "Main Page Settings | (forum settings*[see below]) | Add A Review | Browse Reviews | Manage Users | Manage Ads". * Depending on how the forums are implemented, this addition may or may not be needed in the administration panel. - A banner rotation system built into the administration panel. This will work similarly to modification packs/addition packs to common CMSs. By that, I mean a system where I could upload/enter the URL of a banner, enter the URL to be redirected to, and enter the number of impressions allowed for each banner. ========== I would prefer to hire somebody with a portfolio of websites so I can get an idea of what your style of work is all about. I have a price in mind that I am willing to pay, so I will compare that with price quotes I receive through PMs. Although my description for what I needed was lengthy and very detailed, don't think that means what I want should cost $30,000,000,000,000.00. I know that for anybody who creates similar systems/sites, this is actually a pretty simple project. I'm a web designer myself, so I have some idea of what this should cost. Please PM me your price quotes. Don't be shy at all with your quotes. I would honestly like to see somebody say a number than "Well what would you offer". I'm not one for making offers, so if you have a price in mind that you'd like to get for this project - send it to me. I would like to thank you for reading this lengthy message, and hope that I will be able to work with you on this project. I am willing to reveal more information about my site and what I need for those seriously interested. I can't, however, reveal much about what my site will be based on. This is only because I honestly believe my site is the first of its kind, and there's nothing worse than having your idea stolen from under your feet. I hope you all can understand. To sum up what my site will be about, here's two words: online videogames. I can be reached at various sources for those who wish to contact me: NamePros.com: Private Message AIM: Ziz Fizziks Direct Email: ultiman@gmail.com |

| NamePros Regular | I have considered using PHPNuke, however there are some things holding me back. - I didn't want it to be apparent that I used a common CMS to create my site. I would prefer to have something custom-made, which is why I'm looking for a CMS-style site. - Security flaws in a CMS are something I really can't have with this new website. I need the site to be safe from file bugs and exploits that can be discussed among thousands of other people using the same CMS as I am. I'm working on a few PMs and checking out a few portfolios right now so I'll see what is out there. Thanks :-) Brian |
