Well this post is to basically give some information on the project and request assistance in building a team to create and maintain the project, so read on


*--- The Project ---*


Well, for a start P'E stands for Pixel-Edge. I have been planning something along the lines of this for quite a few months now but I never got around to doing anything about it until this evening.

Earlier I purchased pixel-edge.net and i've started renting on some excellent web hosting.

Now the idea I originally had for the project was a complete customisation site, hosting the applications, tutorials and skins that people need and want to customise their PC but it was impossible to find anyone willing to become a staff member and help with the creation of the system so for now i've decided to shrink it down somewhat.

Basically at this time i'm looking to create a site containing tutorials on all aspects of Web Design and Graphics, such as Tutorials on Dreamweaver, and techniques, Photoshop and Techniques.

Now when it comes to Design, I have no problems there, i've started working on a design which is coming together at the moment. The part where I get stuck is when it comes to Coding.

Now, i'm not particually fussed whether its in PHP or ASP but it will have to be database driven.

I'm looking for a team consisting of the following.

- Graphics Designer
- PHP/ASP Coder

As you can see the team will be small, however there can be more than one person for each section, which would help speed things up somewhat.

The graphics designer would work along side me enhancing the design, comparing ideas and gaining information on what people like in a design so as to be able to create something that as well as functional, is attractive to our target audience.

The PHP/ASP coder/s would have the job of creating the system which i'll now outline.

Well i'm looking to use InvisionBoard for the Forums, and so would like a system where the sites database is linked to the forums, so people can register on the site, and they would also be registered on the forums at the same time (Table Sharing) and vica-versa.

Once registered and logged in within the site they would have the option to submit a tutorial/image etc, which would then be placed in a 'moderation' que, where moderators would then view the submissions and either approve or decline.

Upon either an approval or declination, the submittor would be sent an email informing them of, if approved, the URL and a short message, or if declined, a default message explaining the rules and procedures.

Now once approved, it would then be automatically added to the section selected by the member upon submission, and files would be uploaded to a temporary location and then moved to the relevant section upon approval, or if declined, it would be deleted from the server.

A comments system would also need to be integrated within the site for submissions so members are able to comment or ask questions about specific submissions.



*--- Conclusion ---*


Now there will of course be various changed but at this stage, getting a reliable team together is the important part.

Now this is a voluntary project, but credit will be given within the staff page and copyright section/s.

Eventually, should we get big and decide to implement either a Advert or Donate system (the latter preferably) then payment would be divided between the staff, and i'll of course reward good work out of my own pocket.

Once a team has been established I will be writing up some detailed Design Briefs so everybody know's whats what, along with a private forum where various issues can be discussed.

Within the email, include examples of work (Either URL's or Attatched files), a description of your skills, location and roughly how much time per week you could put aside for working on the project.

This information will enable me to select the best suited for the jobs and also get a more accurate estimate as to the length of time the project will take to launch.

I'd love to help you, unfortunately i'm EXTREMELY rusty with php, and have never gotten around to learning any database stuff. The only thing i could offer is my half-assed design skills, but thoses arn't worth it. Good luck.

Are you able to create a Glass Orb? I have more specific requirments but if you can do the orb then the rest is simple stuff.

by in the process of learning i actually ment. I have yet to start learning but its on my to do list for the next few weeks. I'd imagine a orb would be easy though... Use the spherical tool, apply a glasslike texture to it, set down the transparency, render it, and there you go, a glass orb...

Well, I have yet again, and for the final time changed what Pixel'Edge will be.

Its main function is a Web Design company, specialising in Web Design, Image Design, Script Creation and Installation, but there will be a small tutorial section where there will be a few basic one's but there's always the option of starting a tutorial site as well but do you have MSN?
