Regarding recent contest scams!

The admins/mods should do what http://www.clantemplates.com do, If you have a contest, you MUST send the money to the admin's contest holding account, and when the contest is over the contest holder tells the admin where to send the payment!

It removes the scam side of things, as long as everyone can trust the site with large amounts of money I dont see a problem.

Personally I would rather be in control of my own money.

Good idea, but Ill have to say 'No'...

I like what Clantemplates does, but once you make a contest, you HAVE to choose a winner at CT...so even if you get a few entries and they are all garbage, you have to still choose a winner. Thats why I won't hold my contests @ CT anymore. I like the way NP's is setup. Just watermark your entries.

Don't forget, NamePros has something that ClanTemplates does not, and that's the Trader Rating system. You can always check the contest starter's trader rating before participating in any contests/trades. That's what it's there for.

Contests now have to have a winner mate.

Yes, that's why you can check in their TR and see what they got their feedback for and who gave them feedback.

YES YES YES. That way we can limit these "I'll-pay-you-$5-for-a-flash-logo" and "I'll-pay-you-$500-for-a-little-page" contests. Designers won't bother watermarking, thus giving a better impression of their artwork

I think, if the contest is in NP$, yes.

If it is in cash, no.

However, i think all designers need to watermark their designs, which would take out the issue...

Water marking doesn't stop them from bailing, or getting the logo from other sites tho.

This is a good idea, and something even I floated before.

The disadvantage to NP is that we will be burdened with extra risk. What if there's a chargeback and both buyer and seller disappear after we complete the escrow? In that case, NP will have to eat the loss. What if there's a disagreement about the terms of the contest? We'd have to play judge and hope we get it 100% right since there's money involved.

What will NP get for taking on the extra risk? Would members be willing to pay a percentage of the escrow amount?

Namepros could only take paypal payments. Set up a "NamePros" paypal account.

And have the other forms of payments like escrow and stuff contests ran like they are being ran right now.

Paypal has chargebacks. We can still end up holding the bag.

Why not make it so that the buyer (of the banner / or whatever), has to buy the amount they want to give as the prize for the contest in NP$, and THEN put it into NP Escrow?

Lightbulb e-gold

The "admin" should use an e-gold account, there is no chargebacks involved with e-gold.

The "contestants" won't have e-gold to pay the admins, that's the problem. You can say WebMoney with the same success - no one will post any competitions.

I'm telling you if you do this the number of contests will drop dramatically. Why ruin a good thing because of some punks? Don't let the terroists win!!!
