V1.5 of my site.

View.

Background on site: It's a site about urban exploration, which for those who don't know, is when you go to places such as abandoned buildings, drainage pipes, rooftops etc. And explore. The fundamental rule behind the act is take only photos (dont steal.) leave only footprints (dont litter etc.). I just got it set up a few days ago and have been tweaking around with it since then.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-reviews/86786-v1-5-of-my-site.html

So far I'm working on getting/modding a skin for the phpbb, finding a good balance for the text in the iframes, making it compatable for more resolutions (which is easy, takes about 5-10min per resolution as I have it all saved to .psd).

Please feel free to give constructive crits, I can take them and they are what has made the site become so much better in the past few days.

Cheers, The Cat.

Hi Cat,

Very intresting Hobby you have...
(Remembers me of past times ..)
Great Idea, and unique site !
I personally would change the 2 "flowered frames" in your page
to some mystic/tec/agressive style or anything but Flowers

That would fit also your birthday "Oct. 31 - Halloween" much better

PS:
You should get a domain name for your site.

Thankyou, they are vines actually not flowers, and vines commonly appear on old broken down buildings so they kindof fit the topic. Thankyou for the crits tho, I'm glad you like it!

I plan on getting a domain and real hosting as soon as I have the $

Frankly, it's very bad.

The splash page is confusing, I have no idea what I should click on and all three links look the same.

You don't need to make it in multiple resolutions, if you make it for 800x600 then it will fit in any screen.

The borders around the content are distracting and ugly. There's no paragraphs in the text.

The navigation seemed to change on one page, which is when I closed it.

And there's no colour.

The splash page confused you? Can you read english? One link goes to a forum, as clearly stated, 2 of them go to the main page at 2 different resolutions. I do need miltiple resolutions so that people who run inanely high resolutions can read the website, you try to view an 800x600 at 1280x600. There are paragraphs in the text where called upon by the grammatical laws of the English language, and the navigation changed when you clicked "Avant-Garde" which can be defined as (from www.dictionary.com) "adj : radically new or original". In turn, when you click the link that says radically new it leads you to a radically new nav page, from which you can easily return via the back button on your browser or the "In plain English." Link which has taken the place of the avant-garde link. There is colour, black more than one white, grey, and red. Please note that none of his comments were constructive, they were bashing my website with no purpose in mind, which is why I have retaliated.

I agree with Rowan W. Also, The Cat, you dont need to knock on Rowan (Can you read english?) because you asked the community to give you feedback on the site, and that is exactly what he / she did. I think Rowan has made some constructive comments on your site.

I agree, the flowers are very "confusing" from the aspect that the text blends too much with them and draws attention away from the content. I would increase the cell padding from the flowers, use a diffrent font that is not times new roman, go with arial or verdana, and on the flower borders, if you must keep them, dim them down to like 20% opacity. so they become a very light grey. I also agree with Rowan from the standpoint that there is limited color in the site.

I dont think Rowan was intentionally trying to start anything, he was merely stating his opinions of what he saw.

I meant no offence, I was stating the reasons why I didn't like it.

Would you prefer if I just said, "I don't like it" without the reasons why?

Splash page:
The arrow points straight to the bottom of the page, so the first thing I do is look at those bottom links but I have no idea what they're for. Then I look at the compressed wobbly text in capitals on the left side and spend a couple seconds trying to figure out what they say. I proceed to the smallest version.

My res is 1280x960 and I have no problem with smaller sites.

Main page:
The detailed borders don't mix well with the text and are distracting. The arrow points to nothing. Usually arrows have a purpose, which is to lead your eyes somewhere in particular.

Again, you should break the text up into paragraphs for easier reading.

Breast Cancer
its different by can i ask why you have the content in the smaller window? imho it would make much more sense to put the main content in the bigger window and then put the news into the smaller window.

The content being in the smaller frame was an error from when I was uploading files, I plan on fixing it but I am a bit tied up at the moment. And for the record constructive criticism is when you give ways they could fix it, not simply say what is wrong, because then you are simply insulting it with no apparent reason. His followup post was constructive. Thanks for the crits.

i agree with rowan.

i think that his crit was very constructive. insulting it would be simply saying it was crap. he pointed out exactly what was wrong with it, which should clearly indicate what could be improved.

anyway, i think the site could be further improved by changing the font of the main content. nobody likes times. also, consider changing the appearance of your scrollbar.

good luck with it!

I found it 'confusing'

What I would say is CHANGE THE PAGE FONT quickly!!!!, it simply does'nt suit the style/design...

and please don't tear into me, this is only my honest opinion
