Cool PolurNET.com's New Website (Beta Version)

Hi guys,

We've almost completed a new, custom-built and unique hosting design for our webhosting company PolurNET Communications LLC.

So far, only the main homepage can be previewed while we work on the other content elements. We'd appreciate constructive comments on the design and layout and site appeal.

See it here: http://www.polurnet.com/beta/polurnet
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-reviews/75936-polurnet-coms-new-website-beta-version.html

=====
Things Still To Do:
=====
- Top Navigational menu using the same navbar images after the header, like the one at polurnet.com's current homepage
- Footer needs a bit of work
- Dynamic News grabber using IPB-SDK from our hosting forum

Thanks! Remember, this is not a fully completed version yet, but it will be by the end of March 2005 after which I'll post another thread for opinions on the site as a whole

Cheers,
Anand A.

Great looking site ,

I think you should center the header tho, because at the moment at a higher resolution it looks a bit odd being to the left.

"Avoid the Freeze...Enjoy the Breeze!" thats cool

There are a lot of good things about this design, but here it my biggest criticism:

Text needs room to breathe. This is a basic typographic principle. And while I'm the last person to believe in following principles and guidelines, from the standpoint of clarity, this is one you should definitely take to heart. Your text in the top nav bar is very tight, try to give some more space by tightening up the copy or rethinking the layout.

Good work, though. Keep it up!

A very nice and unique design which is a result of sheer hardwork and skill.
A lot of stuff for the end users on a single page. Please correct the spellings of highlighted words in the 'Efficiency and Reliability section':

We understand the need for secure, reliable and efficien top-of-the-line .... (It should be 'efficient')

Our numerous testimonials from actual PolurNET customers proves that once .... (It should be 'prove')

The logo:Avoid the Freeze and Enjoy the Breeze™ ! is very attractive too.

It will be definitely a hit IMHO. Wish you all the best.

Regards

Aajiz

Looks very good, only things that i really dislike is the header, it looks great, but lots of "empty space" to the right.

As already mentioned you could center that, but then there would still be empty space to the left and right, i'd suggest "stretching" the last pixel of the header all the way across. (this is without seeing what it would look like, after tha result opinion might be to go back to how it is now)

I think it's very good! It looks very calm and professional, but the banner is a little to overloaded with text and images, my sugestion is that you drop some text or make it smaller so the banner don't look to overloaded.. or simply make the banner bigger!

Appart from that, very nice site!

Hey thanks to all for their comments so far. Yeah, about the header, we're developing a Flash intro for it as well, which integrates itself with a static image header/background to keep the same look & feel as now. But extending the header background could be a possibility, for sure we're going to see how it looks centered first and with the flash intro.

Thanks Yes, we could remove some of the text, although I think we'll stick for a while with what we have now and wait till the site is completed before making visual adjustments like you mentioned.
----

The hardest part in this project was actually creating an autostretch layout, compatible in all screen resolutions: something not done on most hosting sites that choose only to target 800x600 users. We had to use extensive xhtml coding to make sure it appeared correctly in all browsers as well. But the end result is a unique and eye-catching layout, so all the time spent on planning will pay off soon I hope

Keep those comments coming... thx

Thanks for testing it on Opera. I've tried on IE, Firefox, Netscape and all of them show that part properly... but it's odd that only Opera decides to do something differently. Any suggestions to fix it without affecting the other browser compatibility? I've used CSS, not sure how to change it

Woh!

Way too much text, break it down, use short snappy bullet point notes.

eg.

Quote:
We understand the need for secure, reliable and efficien top-of-the-line network severs for our clients. That's why we pride ourselves keeping up with our 99.5% uptime guarantee for more than 2 years in business. Our numerous testimonials from actual PolurNET customers proves that once you're with us, you would never expect anything less than our high-quality services. Indeed, if ever we find a customer unsatisfied with their hosting experience, we work with them closely to ensure that we not only meet but exceed their expectations. We have a strict policy against overselling of our services, which means we will never exceed the capcity in a single server. In addition, most of our plans come with free automated weekly or daily backups provided in case of any loss of data. This is an unique option not provided by other hosting companies.
Can be:
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=75936

Quote:
> 99.5% uptime guarantee for all customers

> Our high quality service is proven by our numerous client testimonials here

> If your un-satisfied with your hosting we can work closely with you to not meet but exceed you needs

> Our servers are never exceeded in capcity meaning you never get slow hosting

> We do weekly and daily backups of all our servers for free, exclusive to our hosting packages
Im sure its obvious which one is easier to read.

Also, there are too many breaks and since you background color is different its makes lessens the attraction, making to site look messy.

help.gif shows some of the changes I would make.

everyone is being so positive, but i really didn't like it too much. i think the general layout is good, but there seems to be too much going on. too amny different colors, and image quality couild be a little sharper. If you look at the curved parts of the small boxes on the left, you can see white pixels, they dont quite fit.

just small things.

nice design. i love the colours used, but maybes you should either make the header image the same width of the overall design or center it, because it looks a bit odd being on the left, but overall nice job
