| Account Closed | I use Comcast Cable Very nice layout, however some graphic optimization must be considered. 37 KB logo can be reduced to 27 without quality loss. Optimizing all the graphics might save you around 1 GB in bandwidth every month if you have 10,000+ visitors. Also that makes your site load faster.Good luck |

| New Member | Looks very nice! A general recommendation: The site is too wide for a lot of viewers. If you do not want to go with percentages, (which wouldn't work with your site) I would shorten it by 10-15%. This probably doesn't apply b/c your audience is mostly gamers, but I thought someone might benefit from the comment. |

| NamePros Regular | Excellent job, i like the texture of the paper down the middle, and the steel, only critism i would have is i dont like the "Viridian Order" at the top in the header i think it looks a little bit tacky and non realistic considering how realisitc all the other colors and textures look, I can understand why you did it like thou, to make it stand out against the dark back colors, try perhaps a steel or gold color just a thought, but otherwise a very good design.

| New Member | Thanks for all your wonderful feedback! Let me try to address some of your comments. As for image-optimization, this is one area in which i admittedly need improvement. For some reason I guess I get a little lazy! I threw a quick, uniform compression on the jpegs and gifs, but didn't take the time to go through one by one and reduce them until I noticed degradation. Thanks for the kick in the butt. I'll get around to this shortly. To answer l0zo's question about what I used, I just used PhotoShop for the comp, ImageReady to slice and dice, and Dreamweaver for the html and programming. Pretty standard. And of course, a little help from Blizzard and their wonderful artwork. The width of the site would be an absolute BEAR to change. It may be slightly too wide for 800 x 600 resolutions, but uhh....just going to have to live with it I hear ya though, good catch. To comment on SB_GEMINI's concern about the masthead, I feel like this is one of the strongest visual elements. Blizzard's aesthetic is very rich and almost cartoonish. I'm proud by how strongly the "Viridian Order" stands out on top of the richness of the background, etc... But, I certainly do understand where your coming from and to someone looking in your comment is definitely valid. Thanks again for all the feedback. I'm taking it all into consideration! Keep it coming =) |
