Opinions on site re-design...

I'm in the process or redesigning my website and I finished the main layout and before I started to move content over to the new layout, I wanted to get some opinions on it first. You can see the new layout here and the old layout here .

Tell me what you think of the colors, positioning of everything, and anything else you might think of.

Thanks.

I like the old version......

Hi, I like the old version with blue color combination. The new version need some improvement for colors. You can try with light color with dark blue. This is what i think as a designer.

I want to keep the green navigation and search bar color, so what color's do you think would go best with the border around the "leaderboard" advertisement on top?

Yes, some of the site was based off of CNet's design.

green with orange or yellow...

You can try green with orange or yellow like cnet colors. The advertisment at the top header should be 100% to look good.

I've changed the ad box color to a yellow, does that make the overall appearance look any better?

i like the color scheme better on your old design, but the layout for your new design looks better. That big advertisement on your new design is kinda distracting because it's so big.Maybe you could put that above your banner or something. Overall, the old site is more proffesional looking, the new design seems to look like it was designed to advertise.

now it is better...need minor adjustments

Now it is better than before... but you can think of alternate of blue color if you want this design more professional.

ahh i hate it, it's just the colors are so contradicting, try different shades of blues, light greys, there are so many shades of blue that might work, jsut get rid of the green and yellow in my opinion

Honestly, it's not very good. I like the layout better but the colors are horrible. Spend a few bucks and get help from a pro.
