![]() | RFC on managed web services Years ago I wrote this ISP software then the company I wrote it for closed down. No money but I get to keep the software. The ISP wanted to provided the standard services to its web clients: discussion boards, mail forms, "send this site to a friend" email form, searchable directory, calendar. Plus room to easily add more functionality. For example I could and would add blogging functionality immediately and in only about one day. This is a perl suite. I took this one step further and added a web developer layer such that: - The system is hosted on one site - Any number of website development companies can suscribe to use it - A website development company would then resell the services to the clients to whom they create websites. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-reviews/60917-rfc-on-managed-web-services.html As the master administrator of the system, I would give passwords to development companies, and they would issue passwords to each of their client websites. Except for payment receipt and auditing, all of this is automated. Output of the services can be customized by colors and standard graphics like rulers and logos and background images. I have 3 questions. I am asking this without a demo being online so please imagine it as best you can as I am describing it until I get the demo up. 1) Is there a market for this type of thing with all the "free" services available these days? 2) Is it sellable as a whole deal that I can walk away from once sold? 3) Would it work as paid services should I decide to deploy it? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks |
