Review of a blog site.

The site is getting some traffic now, and the number appears to be growing steadily. I'm interested in any advice on how to get the CTR up though.

I don't want the adds to be oppressive or overly annoying, but they aren't working at all well now.

Thanks in advance.

They are not working well as you are having all of them in the end .. Try to place them at the top of the site or somewhere between the posts too .. your site is really looking quite boring because you placed everythin in the end ..

On my browser (Firefox) the ads are cutting into the sidebar, it's sloppy and I can't read the final ad, thereby cutting down my chance of clicking by 1/3.

Second, you need some graphical ads in the sidebar. Photos catch the eye -

Honestly, your site was only created on the 3rd of last month. I would not even be focusing on monetizing yet. With the bit of trickle traffic you have now you can't really see what kind of changes you are making have on you revenue very easily. Don't worry about a few pennies today. Focus on the SEO and created unique content that people will find interesting. If you go that route, you will have much more traffic and make more money in the future. When you have hundreds or thousands of visitors a day, then spend some time optimizing your ads. At that point it won't take more than a day or two to see what effect your changes are.

That is my two cents anyway, I think you are doing a good job so far.

Looks a bit bland and black & white to me. Maybe experiment with a different colour scheme and some more pictures.

Very good input. Thank you everyone. I think the observation that I should be worrying about the adds yet (just getting traffic) is right one.

Re the blurring in Firefox: I haven't be able to reproduce this at various resolutions, are you running a very low res (800x600 or the like)?

Thanks again, the help is appreciated.

Ads are looking great now but tags, recent posts and comments all still lie at the end of the page ... Try placing them at the top too

That 728x90 ads could be 468x60 ads.
You can put one 728x90 in header.
Two 468x60 in between the content
One 728x15 links banner below the main menu.

Thanks.

Looks nice and simple, but I think you can do better! I personally don't like websites with complicated layout and navigation!
