2/ WAY too much like a Made For Adsense Site
Lose the 468*60 banner or the 300*300 ad block , they are too dominating
for the amount of content. More ADS does not translate into too more Clicks, I have found the exact opposite happens.
3/ NO privacy Policy for Adsense Ads (A must now )
4/ Plus Joomla! sites look better if you try to balance the center content with the "left" and "right" cols. Place the "popular" Module in right col. and the latest in the left. That way you will have all 3 cols similar length and the actual recipe will not be so far down the page.
