Hykra.com Blog Review

It's not my design, but it's a template that I customized for the site. Hykra.com is the link. It is a blog that for now I am using as a portfolio of past work (still have a ton to upload) and in the future plan on using as a personal blog (useful for landing blogging gigs).

Let me know what you guys think

I really like it. The design feels professional. The tagline under the title in the banner feels abit arrogant though.

haha, yeah, that is kind of a transfer over from my old humor blog, madbum.com (no longer around). I kind of planned on doing that once I finish uploading my portfolio and start blogging again. The humor is more of a serious satire, and the tagline would fit that. But I can see the confusion. I've been trying to think of something else anyway

I fixed up what you mentioned as well as a bunch of other stuff based on feedback I received. Any further ideas?

I understand what you are saying. For some pictures it is like that, since there were no pictures available online that match what I wanted and were the right side. When resizing them that's what happens.

The majority of the ones on there aren't like that though, which is why I'm not overly worried about it

Looks nice. I like the delineation between the posts, easy to read, nice bite-sized chunks on the front page.

If you're using it as a resume to get writing jobs, I'd like to see links to places where your work was published other than associated content.

Thanks.

No, it's not being used to get jobs, but rather as a resource that I can refer people to so that they can examine my writing style. This is better than me attaching articles to e-mails which may or may not even be on the topic they are looking to have the examples be in.

Much of the content work I do is for clients who never mention the web site to me, and I never ask what the work is for. Yes, I could use web sites to locate where it is on the internet, but I do not feel that to be important.

Thank you everyone for the input. The thoughts I have received have gone a long way and I have implemented many of the ideas shared. Thanks and feel free to let me know if you have any other recommendations

First, I like the domain name, it sounds quite good.

Second, the design is really nice and I love the way the RSS feed is imputed.

2 things I reccomend changing. In the right sidebar, you have the Archive section above the Categorie section - I would switch that around.

Second, in the header logo you have two "//" marks. I'm not sure what they are for, but I would remove them.

The // marks are mostly for style...I've received a couple good comments on them and a couple bad. I'll think about that.

I agree with you on the category part. I will fix that.

Sidebar is fixed, as well as some font issues. I switched the hover color as well for most links which I believe makes things look much better. Any further thoughts?
