noobgamers.com

Hello,

Looking for a review on my site http://noobgamers.com/
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-reviews/458300-noobgamers-com.html

I got the name 3 weeks ago and i feel like the name does not go with the website. What i mean by that is the site looks too clannie to me and not like a community.

What i am thinking is dropping the site/forum template and just adding a really nice forum template only.

Since i just got the template/website i might leave it for a little bit then do the change unless i find a forum template that i really like to do the change but so far i haven't found anything that i like out there.

With the domain that you have, I would think that the header should be a little less techie, something a little more simplistic would go well with the domain. I love the colors however, keep them, just find a new header for the project.

Thank YOU! NPQueen,

I use to have a counter strike source picture on the banner but change it a this one when i added team fortress 2 game server to the community. I picked this banner because is more neutral.

I'll see what type of banners they have to see what i can change it to.

I agree with NPQueen needs a simpler header. Not only is it too techie but it is just gaudy in general, too much of an eye soar and distracts the eye from the rest of your content. Colors work very well together. Also, IMO, the header is kind of tall to have the links on top of it like that. If your banner is going to be that tall I would have the buttons at the bottom of the header banner. I think if your going to keep the buttons shorten up the header just a bit.

NPQueen is right in some aspect. The header looks as if it belongs on a GFX Community Site. The rest is fine as I assume you use either PHP-Nuke, Post-Nuke or some other software. Looks almost a lot like mine:
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=458300

http://www.chaos-incarnate.com

And my site will be geared towards my personal GFX designs in the future.

So first up, I suggest you need to hunt for a good banner. Ask some of your members if they want to design a good gamers banner for your site.

You can give them credit somewhere on the site in return for designing it, Or, host a competition and then use the one that wins.

Anyway, you have to decide what your site will be all about. What information it will deliver and what type of community site you are striving for.

Most good community sites (for gamers) tend to be forums. Sites that look like yours, tend to offer valuable "stuff" for download on the main pages after someone has signed up, and then still have a separate forum for people to interact with.

The problem you have, is your forum is within the restrictions of the website. Believe me when I tell you this... people do not enjoy forums like that. That is the sole reason why most community sites opt for phpbb or Vbulletin. I have the option to have a forum like yours on my site as well, and I disabled it. Instead I created a proper phpBB 3 forum and will add some nice skins to it and then add a link to my main site.

And no, your site doesn't look too "clan-like"

Unfortunately many game sites are similar in one way or another. It works.

Thanks everyone for the reviews.

The website is not php-nuke is a website from surreal-media. ( I don't like php-nuke ) Sarah, lol! you did not look at the forum good I am using vBulletin with vBSEO.

I have been thinking about dropping the whole website and just putting the forums only with a really nice looking theme.
