| New Member | it's missing something... Would you take a look at the site I just put up for my web development business? [Edited: Removed Out Dated Link] It's aimed at small business owners--mostly people who are not already online, so I'm straying from a too-technical feel. Trying to look as friendly as possible. It feels sloppy, though, and I'm not sure where I should be cleaning it up... fonts, navigation, headers, sidebar... Suggestions much appreciated. Last edited by AutumnTD; 11-18-2004 at 02:22 PM. |

| Senior Member | Sorry that I have to say this but I think it looks a bit like a “homemade” website. You use several different (strange) fonts, shades and sizes, the used colors do not match, the used icons are not very well chosen, the brunched banners are not a match with the sharp edged top bar etc. The site had many inconsistencies and it looks like separate little parts not a whole. I hope I did not offend you because that is not my intention. Good luck with your website.

| Senior Member | I honestly don't like the yellow and red colored theme. The website could definately use new colors and fonts. Place the current website in a rectangle, and then select a new background color. Lets see if that improves the visual appeal of the website.

| New Member | Alright, how's this looking? [edited: removed outdated link] I ditched the clipart themes. It was a poor cover for lack of artistic skill. The scrolling text is a CSS box, not a frame. The content and navigation can stay mostly the same with this layout. The earth tones match the business name, as well as my personal style. I'm not sure if there's enough contrast, though. It's hard to find good earth tone harmonies on a 256 color pallette. Comments on the new layout? Suggestions for further revisions? Constructive honesty still very much appreciated... thanks Last edited by AutumnTD; 11-18-2004 at 02:23 PM. |

| Domain Bagger | It's a nice-looking site, although a little plain. Adding a little graphical content might help. I would also change the font on the menu bar. It doesn't quite seem to flow with the word "Autumn" on the left. Nice job!

| Senior Member | well, i think you should lose the scroll bar in the middle of the design, just let it flow, if you have to school the whole page its alright, i just don't like sites with a scrollbar in the middle, but thats just my style of doing things I'm liking the left bar alot more in this one, onlything missing i think is maybe a really good logo, or even keeping the logo how it is, but adding a background image with leaves or something to that effect. Hope these help in some way Regards Brian |
