Looking For A Review

Greetings.

I posted in here around a month after making this website, which is now PR4.

I started the site in January, achieved PR2 in the first update, PR4 in the second update.

I've given the site a simple, easy to navigate look.

I have had so much bad luck with this website, losing it, deleting databases by accident so on so forth!

I'm just looking for a review to point me in the right direction for future referance.

Anyway, let me know please!

Regards,

the site has a database error I think because of this message....

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'scottfu_scottfu'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/nobutyer/public_html/scottfu/includes/head.php on line 20

Works for me.

Interesting site, not too aesthetically pleasing, but it gets the job done.

I recommend toning down the fluorescent yellow colors and getting a logo. At the top is a big adsense banner, and it looks like that's where your banner should go. You have dedicated a lot of precious page space to adsense, which detracts from the quality of your site but maybe makes you more money.

Last, I recommend that you add some left padding to the text in the middle.

Thankyou for your input.

The ads are working very well, so I really don't think I should change the way I have them.

I've made the main body ads smaller.

The bright colors in the title tables are placed where the content is, focusing the users attention straight to the content.

There were a few errors but I was in the process of moving hosts.

Anybody else like to give me their input?

Hello,
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=404140

I like the information that you have to offer and I'm willing to promote your site on my site since it does appeal to teens and young adults alike. However, you must also insert a reciprocal banner on your site. PM me with your reply.

Now for the review:

I would swap Google ads with the welcome. You want your welcome right on your face. The navigation is too yellow with the blue text. Change the text color.

I'm not one for stats to be shown to the public (bottom of page), it looks (IMO) cheesy and unprofessional.

I'll be spending more time on the site looking for layouts to try with my site.

Thanks,

Banner ad on top of Nav Bar ads on top of adsense box. Your content is driven to being completely secondary, out on the side rails or in small thumbnails on the bottom. You're using your prime focus points for advertising, which in itself can be done more aesthetically pleasing and a LOT more subtle.
Not too long ago, we've had a story coming through NP about a 17yr old girl, who's also a member here; she's been making upwards of 70k/mth with her myspace related site. In essence, her site is simplistic but VERY pleasing to the viewers eye. You're completely missing that point. Think about what you're setting out to do: Your catering to people that want to personalize their social networking site, most people bring some visuals on their profile that represents themselves. Whether this be action or comedy or love related, they all have one thing in common. They're telling the viewer a little bit about who they are just by placing a background or effects on their personal space. What are you telling your users about who you are or what you can do for them? I think you know where i'm taking this...

Wow IntelBank that was a great post!

Yeah I totally agree with you... I'm going to cut the ads down to just the top one and tone down the colors. I'm also going to shorten the navigation and put some padding in the main content area.

Will you mind taking a look at it again when I've done it and sharing your views?

Thanks.

Scott.

Your website is basic with no images . No logo, no banners , no nothing. Your site is too simple . Anyway you choosed a good combination of colours .

Try making a new template, including images . The competition is too hard for myspace sites, you have to use something unique .

Best regards,
Iulian

Thanks, Iulianh.

If you look here: http://alexa.com/data/details/main/myspace4yourpage.com
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=404140

That's the way it used to look, with images etc.

I lost the whole website since then which is why I'm re-building it from ground zero.

I've gone for a simple design that is eye catchy and recognisable.

I've purposely not used too many images.

As I said I would do before, I've lowered the ads so the actual content page has none at all, and shortened the navigation.

I asked for a review so I could improve, and I will put these ideas into place.

I know MySpace has lots of competition, but hopefully my SEO research will fall into place in the coming weeks.

The site has been online for approxomately 2 weeks and I'm already gaining 200 uniques per day with an average of 291.

I feel my SEO is already paying off.

Any more views/ideas/oppinions?

Scott.

Okay, anyone who previously saw my site.

I've followed your advise, could you take another look for me and let me know what you think?

Regards,

Scott.
