Surfing Website

Hey all! I am not a professional webdesigner, but I do land some webdesign projects here and there. This is my latest one.

www.vercellishapes.com

It is a surfboard shapers site. I personally know him and we worked out a deal for a bunch of boards. So I am now a surfer! No choice really, if you have these sweet boards just sitting around you can't just sit at home and polish them. I designed this project from a blank white page. So it is built and hand designed by me I am real good with photoshop because I am a photographer, so that helped! I basically used a WYSIWYG editor LOL! Think I made pretty good use of it! I also took the photos of all the products/boards. I also shot the shaper pic!

Oh yeah and the Longboard is mine!

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Outstanding! Gets the action across, the dynamic, the feel, flair and the boards! There's just a few things i'd like to see enhanced. The Team Riders have their names displayed, it would be great if they were clickable, lead to a short bio, what board they're riding and why they chose their gear, eventually embedd a short video clip of their best rides.

The Blog/News section strays away from your very well done site design, extend your design to cover this section as well.
The Favicon is missing and the site title is "www.Vercelli...", VercelliShapes + "tag line" should work better than the actual site's URL in the title.

Outstanding job, well worth the boards that you received for your work.

Hey thanks for your kind words! Your points are well taken and I agree. Unfortunately getting all the necessary info for each rider and individual pics is amazingly hard! The shaper is really old school which is really good in some ways and really bad in others. You get classic handshaped boards that are rarely made from a mold! Which is unheard of these days! But on the other hand he did not have a list of his team riders, no list of boards, no model names---> Nothing LOL! It was just all in his brain. I helped him develop his brand and concept over the last year and a half and its finally coming together! Funny thing is he still has no BIO, I have to create a Q&A that is interesting and also gives you enough background info on him. It could take a while LOL! I definately want to expand the riders section to contain bio's with videos but first I have to get his working! Then I have to urge him to track down all the videos then i have to find someone to edit them - it could be a while! I still have yet to plug in all the SEO and update what the top of the page displays etc, but all in all I have the main bulk of the work completed. I personally dont have alot of experience with php so I just used what blog/forum free applications were available under the godaddy hosting, of course they selected windows hosting- I have to switch it over to linux so there are more options available to me that will closer resemble the actual site. Oh and I should mentionI used a few small graphics from istock, but mostly really cool brushes from photoshop!

thanks again!

Thanks for your comments everyone!

Just curious, as I said I am not a pro so I dont know what to charge for a site like this... Could someone help me out a little!
I have been approached by a few companies recently, another surf company and another clothing store here in Hawaii. How much do you charge for a site like this? Do you charge by the hour? Flat rate? How do you determine this? I probably spent 150-200 hours between photoshop and the website editor.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

You should be asking 25-50 an hour with a minimum number of hours

My brother does it professionally, and he won't even touch a site for less then a grand minimum. He never lacks for work and is offloading the minor stuff to others because he can't keep up.
