Which design do you prefer of these two?

Here are two possible designs for a technology company that deals with non-profits, government agencies, and social service organizations.

Actual names have been removed to protect the innocent.

The company colors are teal, yellow, and gray, so there is no changing that.

Which design do you prefer, and why?

I like the first one better without all the square boxes around the search feature. At top right.

and Id like to see them both centered to the left.

nice work.

I like the first one better, actually. It looks far more complete, and I'm sure you could make the background much lighter. I honestly think the first one would look far better than the second, with a new and lighter background.

I prefer the image of the young boy. Looks more like a "helping service-type" site when that image is used IMO.

There.
I've just been getting irritated with the recent three-word post: "I like it." More expanded and comprehensive opinions are what we're all looking for.

I like the 2nd one, the navigation and overall design are a lot cleaner. The 1st design is nice as well, but it doesn't seem to flow as well as the 2nd IMO.

However, both are really professional looking.

I prefer the first. I just looks like the designer went to more effort to make a pleasing presentation on it.
