Carry on from "A flash site..."

Well, you wanted a carry on thread so I made one. Now, where where we...oh yes, how rich Yahoo are and how e-commerce revenue is going.

Time for a change of subject maybe?

Isn't the new MSN Search-Engine powered by Google? It sure looks like it. Another thread claims that Yahoo owns only 5% of Google. I'm sure we would all know if Yahoo did manage to purchase Google, and in all honesty, Google deserves to be far more successful than Yahoo.

IMO, no search engine will become as big as google. Google are the champs of searching. And as far as I know, Yahoo own Google, but maybe they do just own 5% of it.

Does Microsoft (MSN) plan on getting a new domain for their "Google-like" search engine? Having a subdomain seems somewhat cheap to me for a company of their size.

I doubt it. They're probably just trying to make a few bucks. I'm curious as to how many people have made millions online, and how. I mean, it's rare to see many "online millionaires," besides those who started Yahoo, etc.

"Broadcast.com" redirects to Yahoo immediately. Is this what they bought for $40 million?

Man, that's just a waste of money. They could have spent that on something much more profitable. But then again, these guy's have money to burn.

I think a Bravenet-type website that offers services has enormous potential currently on the Internet. I'm sure quite a lot of people are seeking a website that resembles Bravenet, however, unlike Bravenet- doesn't have any advertisements. Perhaps a free version could have restrictions as to the number of submissions through forms, and paid subscriptions could have everything set to unlimited. In my opinion, this would generate tremendous sales.

Also, there are loads of "online millionnaires", the trouble is, we just don't know about them. The amount of people that use the web, and the amount of people that sell - I bet loads of them are millionnaires.

I watched a documentary about a woman who gave up a full-time accounting job to go and work full-time on eBay. She's a multi-millionnaire now.

LetsSingIt has an Alexa rating of 143, I wouldn't be surprised if it was making that much.

I'm quite sure it would. Most people don't have hosting that allows them to have these scripts, so remotely hosted scripts can make you enough money. Free version would have restrictions, so people would be more than willing to upgrade to a paid one.
