Maybe not the place to ask...

My first website design...www.mybackpack.co.uk. Not looking for a review, ive just a very simple question. How can I make the nav cell on the left go down automatically finish at the copyright cell on each page?

All help appreciated (dont bother clicking on the links not of thats ready!)

Not too sure if I understand your question properly, but why don't you specify the table's height in percentages?

I need the nav bars on the left and right to reach all the way down to the copyright panel on the bottom rather than just leaving a white space (which is what there is at the moment). This needs to be the case on every php page, and they all have different lengths so...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Wouldn't making the height 100% do the job?

Yeah, thanks alot that works now - cheers! My other problem is that the header doesnt seem to line up with the nav bars on the left and right even though theyre on the same table - any ideas?

The nav bar on the left seems to be aligned fine. I think everything would work out if you stretched the width of the header image by a few pixels. Furthermore, you could then stretch the width of the green table at the bottom as well to match with the end of the right nav bar. If that doesn't seem to work, you could reduce the width of the table all the content is in at the moment and see if that squeezes things to get rid of the alignment issue.
