My colleague has launched a new portal for Finnish party people:

"yökerhot" - Finnish for nightclubs

This is the first website where all Luxurious nightclubs in Helsinki are listed and shown in the map.

i can't understand if because its finnish?
i still like it tho, it gets to the point, doesn't have a crap design and does what its meant to without having to search though pages of pages of crap till you find what you want.
seems like it would be a very useful site.

Reading it is a bit challenging, for one the language barrier, but foremost because the font and size you're using to list the nightclubs is too small and doesn't flow well with the general clarity of your site.

Absolutely great idea to pull the original sites of the nightclubs onto your site with the overlay, the google map is a good idea as well - however, link the "ballons" to the layover to react the same way as if someone would click on the nightclub name. This is because some people may just look by geographical association rather than the name of a nightclub.

Also, revisit your design, especially the colors. Check the nightclub sites out, they're all dark, energetic, driven and entertaining. If you're promoting the best nightclubs and want people to vote, you should be at least on par with the nightclubs themselves. Add music, typical club beat to your site, let users turn the sound down or off and switch tracks (optionally), become more active and "club style" on your site.

Although i like the simplicity of your site, maybe a flash intro would work for you? - use the same layer that you're using when someone clicks on a nightclub.
