Tell me what you think

Hi
I am quite new to this and a complete beginner in web design. Just trying this new cubecart software having tried net objects fusion for my first site without much success. Anyway its the first time i have been on a forum of this type and would like an opinion of what my wife and i have done up to now. We have still so much to learn in what to do with our keywords meta tags and anything else that will help our site.

Very dry and standard. Bring some playful elements to the site, larger pictures and opinions/ratings as to which items are most accepted by consumers.
Leave yourself some room on the side panels for the latest additions, the latest comments, etc. I'd consider using a CMS and see whether you can bridge the shop into it.

I actually like the design of content of the page - but then I tend to favour clean, minimalist designs.

Therefore I do not like the menu bar! The way the menu items sit above the bar rather than in it, and the chunky, squared off tabs don't look right to me.

I would either:

Scrap the tabs and put the menu in the bar

or

Scrap the bar, and make the menu tabs nice and rounded!

Hi
I really do appreciate your comments and sorry i did not reply sooner. I did keep checking back yesterday and i have been out today and this is the first chance i have been able to check for replies.

Mike I do realise it is a bit standard looking but i am just using the standard template that came with cube cart until i can learn how to change the template design or what they refer to as skins which i have read can be purchased. Yes i agree the thumbnail pictures need to be bigger and i am sure i can alter the size of them just need to figure out how, which i will be doing shortly. Can i ask what CMS is.

I am glad that you like the design but i am at this time unable to alter any design issues of the pages as it is a standard template i am using and my knowledge of web design is very very limited compared to you guys and thats why i have to rely on using some sort of template for now.

Thank you for taking the time out for me i will be using this site more and more as its a wealth of information for me.

food_consult is on a distinguished road

I would put a little more focus into the Header and then customize th buttons to get away from that cookie cuter pre packaged look!

Great work!

Hi again
I ma going to try and put the buttons in the menu bar as my wife and i both agree it would be better just got to work out how to do it. I have also worked out how to increase the size of the images on the steel boned corset section on the corset tab button. I guess i would have to be cautious here though as not to make thumbnails too big as it would increase download time and also make the page far too long to scroll down if i had a lot of products on one page.
