   | CgSearch - Link Archive (not finished!) Hi there fellow designers! I am currently working on a link archive site geared towards computer graphics artists (such as yourselves, but mostly towards 3d artists). We are not finished, but I'd like some reviews on load times, what looks funny to you, what you like about it, etc... I did the design, and my partner did the coding, so I'd prefer critiques on the design, but any critiques and constructive criticism would be appreciated. | I'm on cable, and the load time was less than a second. I like the flash logo you designed, very creative. The numerous links at the bottom each w/ your logo above is rather painful on my eyes. Almost like an optical illusion effect. Maybe it's just me though? Overall nice job so far. |

 | 24 seconds on 56k connected at 40k. the design is nice, however i also agree that your logo that many times at the bottom could be a problem.

btw, thanks to everyone for your very nice replies!

And for the logos at the bottom, I agree with the many who said it was too much, I think I'll make a few different ones which say like "advertise here please" instead of our logo numerous times...Thanks so much for the insight into the problem area! | I often make this comment about such sites, but it never ceases to amaze me that no-one thinks it necessary to explain (right there on the first page) what it's all about! You have about 5 seconds before first-time visitors click out and you give them a very confusing interface.... Self-defeating, IMO. Don't assume that newbies know everything, but DO assume that you need lots of newbie members (so explain why they should stay/join). HTH. |
