I'd say the forum theme really hurts it to be honest, it makes it look too dull and empty.
For a site called "Security Talk" I'd expect some informative articles and useful links, maybe you could use a portal system if you're sticking to forums?
A brandable logo would help a lot I think, maybe you could look around here for some designers if it's not your forte'?
