first you have to redesign the site....you are using phpbb for forum...forum have a clean design...first create a structure, what will be in the home page and other pages...then create layout and design it...for better search engine placement, add the latest forum posts in the home page...these are my suggestions...

Nice blending of the adsense link ads.

I like everything else in your layout (including backgrounds, images, etc) but I'm not a huge fan of the background, maybe try using a plain color instead?
