Review: pageranklookup.net

Good Afternoon All.

Please take a look at: pageranklookup.net it a page rank checker I have been working on. I am open to all ideas/feedback/criticism. Please go all out and hold nothing back, I want all the constructive criticism I can find.

It is my first design using both Fireworks and Dreamweaver. It is also the first design I have completed in some time. I am using as much as a learning experience as I am a money making opportunity.

Very functional and clean cut. The coloring is more on the boring side, though, maybe consider a touch up of the colors and add some "spank" to the site, while retaining the clean cut "business style" that you've achieved so far.

The Fix section and Links are well place, i would change the directional writing though, currently i almost have to break my neck to read it, play around with your positioning options.

Other than that, it's one of the many PR checkers out there, take a minute to think about added content that can help you to stand out from the crowd.

gjsys, thanks for taking a look at my site. I appreciate your feedback & suggestions.

I have gotten several comments about the vertical text being a distraction from the site. It doesn't bother me too much, I can see where the different opinions are coming from. I hope to get more feedback here and see what others think about it.

You are 100% correct that in its current format it is just another PR checker. I have some ideas on how to improve/enhance it. My site's audience is going to be primarily webmasters and they are a difficult bunch to market too.

Thanks again for you feedback and anything else you have to add is much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hello All.

Built this site awhile back and then kinda forgot about it. It is a PR3 now, with the sub-pages being PR2, so I thought I might come back to it now and work it up some more.

Just looking for suggestions/input on the design, plus what people might add to the site to start bring more traffic. What type of content are people looking for, etc.

Cheers.

Hey I like the style of your site and the function.

I like black, but i feel your site could use some color to spice things up.

Simple but effective

As a functional piece I too think it is very good, particularly since the results show more than just PR which can be more easily obtained using the google toolbar. I would however say that PR is perhaps not as important as its cracked up to be. Take my site for example, many of the pages were html to begin with but with future changes in mind, I converted them to aspx. All pages were PR3 before and the original html pages have been left with metarefresh to the new. The problem is, although the pages are identical, the structure and links between exactly the same, now the pages show as PR0. I guess until the googlebot figures out whats gone on this will remain, but the pages get the same hits, as before.(mostly from google).
