I think that the white on blue is a little harsh. In your footer, you have a grey color. Use that in stead of the white text background. That will make your blog much easier to read. In addition, I suggest changing the banner color because it blends in with the background, and, judging from the border you attempted to salvage this with, you don't want that to happen.

Looks really nice, the only thing I can recommend is removing the bottom banner it really does look out-of-place.
