King of the Bill - An Advertising Extravaganza!

Hello everyone,

I just launched a new site http://www.kingofthebill.com/

Please let me know what you think of it!

Basically, it's a virtual King of the Hill ad based concept, where advertisers can fight to be on top.

The first ad starts at $1, and the price increases by one bill ($1) after each purchase.

Of course feel free to buy an ad as well!

Thanks for any suggestions or comments!

~007

My first reaction was: wow what is this, doesn't he know how to use colours for making a goodlooking layout? But when lookign more carefully it is a cool design, sweet banner, nice menu that matches your banner. The white-grey is okay, but it is the dark grey background that ruins everything.

To begin with, put a small border around your content to seperate it from the background. And the only solution I see is to make your sie wider: 75-90% of the screen should be content to avoid the ugly-effect I had when I first visited it.

*sigh again the smae I have to say* With a small chanegs you have a good layout

What if I changed the background to a different color? Any suggestions for a better color?

I have been thinking about it, I'm not sure what to use, maybe an other varient of grey (light grey). But I believe a small blockpattern would do also very good, make the background very light and put on that a little darker grey pattern of blocks.

Not sure of it will be better, but that is what I was thinking of

I have just changed the background to a pattern that I think looks ok. What do you think? :-)

What do you guys think of the overall concept of the website? Is it easy to understand right away?

That's, probably, the modified version. I can't say I like it a lot, I mean this crazy combination of green, yellow, grey and red. But that's just my opinion, you should ask lots of people.
I love your domain name and the whole idea of the site, I think it'll be rather succesful if properly optimized and advertized.

I have several campaign ideas planned and that I am working on to get the word out more so hopefully that will fall under "properly optimized and advertized."

I've also created live stats banners now that people can put on their sites to help promote it. Of course I can also put these on my other sites, as well as paying other sites to put them up. It should help keep things going.

Interesting that you don't like the colors. I have had a lot of people tell me that they love the colors. You are not the only one who has said they should change though.

Good news is that several more spots have been selling regularly over the past few days. I think this quite possibly could take off in the very near future..

This is a great site 007, I just bought a spot and I am the " King " whoot !

How long will I remain on the throne .....thats my question!

Second spot I bought by the way , Last time I got huge blasts of traffic, plus the fact that you get the lifetime link is awesome

I was also checking the future PR checker and looks like its gunna be a PR5

Nice site !

Cool idea. Attractive and easy to understand. I definitely like what you have done.

Did you write the script?

Yes, I did write the script. Thanks for the positive comments!

I just added a new page to the site called "Referrals." Anybody who sends traffic to KOTB from their site will automatically have their link added to the list. http://www.kingofthebill.com/.

You can also check out that page to see all the sites that are sending traffic to KOTB. Several of them are using the 728x90 live banner that also shows the top advertiser's banner.

Also, just a note. Today has been a very good day traffic-wise. It's been one of the best days so far.

Hi guys, I made some changes to the layout on the front page. I moved the sales and users online stats up to the top, and condensed everything a bit.

I also made the text bigger towards the top of the link list. Do you think these changes are for the better? Thanks!
