My Band's Site

This is my first site and its pretty much just basic html but I'm still learning so constructive critisism is welcomed. By the way I'm keeping the frame at the top so don't tell me to get rid of it. I'm working on a flash intro as well as a flash nav bar type thing but in the mean time I'm just going to leave it how it is.

Got any suggestions?

Well, I have to tell you that frames are probably a bad idea, even though you want to keep them. They mess up in many browsers and are generally unreliable.

Anyway, the site looks pretty nice and covers all the info users would want...

A very good first site - considering it is your first. Just a few things for you to consider:

I would have to agree with the no-frames approach. As well as messing up browsers, search engines can have troubles with them too. Yes - they are handy - but you won't find many professional sites using them.

I would also drop the "site best viewed at 1024..." etc on the homepage. People are not going to change their computer settings just to see a particular site, anymore than they will buy a new television to see a particular tv show.

I'm getting a little javascript error - I think it might be something to do with the hit counter.

The main site is well organised and has a good navigational system in the same place on every page.

On the first page, perhaps you might want to put just a paragraph about the band at the right-hand side with a "more information..." hyperlink to the main "about the band" page underneath. When I visit a site for the first time, I want to know what the site is about immediately.

Otherwise, well done. In comparison to many first-time sites, you've done very well. If the band doesn't work out, you've got a career as a web designer ahead of you ;-)

Best wishes.

I'd skip the intro page and forget about the flash splash page unless it adds reall value to your site. If you just have a self serving homepage that just makes people click again to view your site, you are more than likely to loose your traffic before it begins to flow through your site. Plus your not going to run into troubles with getting positioned well in the search engines.
