Bushly.com - Fun Site

Review it and enjoy it. I started it yesterday its completely coded in HTML and CSS. There is no PHP so I do manually update the links. What do you think of colors, presentation, content, etc.?

Hey,

Some of the content is good, however, it kinda took me a while to figure out, what the site was about, and where the good content was.

Don't ask why, lol, it just didn't hit me straight away, possibly to do with the colours?
Not being mean, but it's the type of site, where i just look anywhere on the page, i can't focus due to the colours, or lack of images/headings.

If you are keeping the colour scheme, try doing some of these...
Adding some border/contain around your whole content.
Maybe make it lighter within that.

If you look, when you scroll down, and just see the content in the middle, nothing important holding it there, it just makes the site look like a quicky, you want to make it a site people will remember if it gets updated daily.

The daily content, Make the text the same font as the description "Verdana".It would look a whole let better in my opnion.

The slogan
Quote:
The funniest daily stuff on the web!
Which is wrote in text, is very noticeable, i have to highlight it just to see what it says.

Maybe add a footer to finish the site off?

Personally, i would try expirimenting with different colours, a light version.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-reviews/232539-bushly-com-fun-site.html
If it's too much work, try and do the things i suggested.

Also, you say you are updating the content your self? You could use Wordpress, it would be great for this type of site, archives, easy to add content, visitors could comment on the content etc.
Just a thought.

Detailed Analysis

Thinking that your domain was something to do with George Bush, I was clearly mistaken on that. Your design is awesome. It is a good dark design, and only using a few colours. I feel that the use of red hyperlinks stands out well, but there is an error with them. With the top Urban Dictionary quote, when I roll over the word dictionary, it goes crazy. This is because the text increases by a size and the browser doesn't know how to fit the text into the paragraph properly. So go back into your CSS and keep the text link rollover the same size.

In addition, your 'http://bushly.com/img/nav.gif' stands out and doesn't look good for your content articles. Maybe just have a plain black image instead of that.

You offer no Features and Interactivity sadly. No where I can read about the site, a FAQ or even a search bar! I know you are only building the site up, but consider it. Again, make a formal contact me page too.

Images! I don't want to be bored with reading text, add some funny images and remember to watermark them to prevent image theft. As you grow in articles and links, you will need an archive as well. Start to organise your links well and then it will be easy to manage in the long run.

REMEMBER, there are millions of sites like these on the Internet. The most successful ones have unique and new content. Keep that in mind when selecting your links to show.

And on a small note, get your site a favicon, a menu, and a lot more articles! Remember to date each link as well. 'Today' could have been 3 weeks ago.

Good luck.

Review by Anthony Lieu. Your site was accessed on a ADSL T1 connection, on Mozilla Firefox with a screen resolution of 1280x1024. Thank you for allowing me to review your website design - I hope it was useful.

I love the header at the top, but maybe you could add more colors to the body and make something like dailydumb.com By the way what font did you use at the top? Nice gradient usage on the text (header)

Thanks guys. Its a one page figure out the shit on your own right now. Don't really care if people like it or not because I think I post funny stuff normally and things that people might wanan come back and see the next day. Kinda waiting on popularity before I put my full talents into the CSS design. I've really just ripped a template for now and got a design on it.

I'll probably add a side bar of buttons with vertical letters for a "About" and other sections.

If you do not care what people think, why in your first post ask for peoples opinions?

you should add some Bush quotes. When I read the domain name, I thought it was a website dedicated to President Bush's dumbest quotes.

It has some of president bush mocks.

And to todalen I really was talkin about the audience of the site not the reviewers. If they don't like the website they don't have to come back is what i was saying.

I do appreciate all the reviewers though. Thank you for your comments and I've even done some of the things they suggested.

Thanks
