OwnTheMap.com - world for sale! :D

Hey,

I've recently set up http://www.ownthemap.com/. It's like an advance on the MillionDollarHomepage but a nice advance. Instead of pixels, the world is for sale via eBay auction. New countries become available every week and the auction winner gets right for the country for two years.

It's had a nice response so far, including local media coverage in London. I recently added a competition so that you can win Algeria in an attempt to get more people coming to the site which, so far, seems to have had a good response.

Hits are on the rise, as are bids. I just wanted, in the ligh of this, to improve it even more to get the idea to the level where it spreads like wildfire!

Any suggestions for design or additional content? Should I sell in USD?

Looks nice, good idea. The links in your "Did you know...?" box appear in a bright orange though which is hard to read with the light blue background...

I'm also getting javascript errors on all of your subpages.

lol, nice idea indeed . Better than just a copy of the million dollar pixels sites.

Grats on the idea, although, it looks like there aren't many different countries to actually own is the only problem.

Oh well, that's pretty clever!

It cant be easy getting images the right shapes and dimensions and everything though...how is that going?

The site is designed well and the concept is great, nice work. (Think about trademarking it, dont make the mistake milliondollarhomepage did...)

Good luck with it but it seems like there is already a "milllion dollar homepage" for virual countries.

http://www.virtualworldrealestate.com/

I saw them selling countries on ebay a few months ago.

This looks like a great idea. The milliondollarpage concept is starting to get overexposed, but your take on it is unique. I'd say you want to keep an eye on the Flash code since it takes a little while to load and adding more content could make loading times too long for a lot of people. Depends on how you coded it though.
