I pieced together a little dating AWS site. I think it looks good, but I value my NP pals opinions. my little dating site

Comments / criticisms?

The design is too simple for a Dating site. The page is plain white and simple. Maybe you should consider adding some more images and colors to it and possibly a background.

I disagree, as far as I know there's no rule book for designing dating sites. In my opinion, it's a challenge to design a good looking website without too much fuzz on it and I think the designer did a very nice job!

I never said that there is a rule book for designing dating sites. The person has asked for comments on his site. In my opinion the design is too simple for a dating site. Look around and visit a few dating sites out there and you'll find the difference. Dating site should be visually appealing to attract visitors as his ultimate goal would be to get a lot of members.

Thanks for the comments...I was sort of going for a simple gateway type of a site that encourages clicks...but not to a fault.

So you think an interesting background, might add to the overall appeal? I'll look for one and post later. Any other comments?

I understand you are just giving your opinion, but you made it sound like there are some guidelines to follow when developing dating sites. There might be some difference between this dating portal and other similar sites, however that doesn't mean anything, there are also dating sites out there which use a very bold design instead of conventional ones.

When developing a dating site, you develope the site to serve a purpose (providing dating services), next you will try to make the website appeal to the average joe in your target group. But still, the thing to think about is functionalily.
