Hi guys,

I had this idea of making a forum where webmasters can barter their services/products with other webmasters in exchange of required services/products.

I know, I know they can do it here at namepros and on other similar communities but the fact is that none of these bigger communities specifically emphasize on trading. They only take it as an added item.

My idea was to have a forum exclusively dealing in webmaster related trading, where webmasters not only can discuss day to day trading problems but also can do trading without investing a penny of their hard earned money.

I have tried to cover almost every aspect of online trade one webmaster could need but you are most welcome to make any suggestion. The questions/areas I am specifically looking for answers/suggestions before I go public are as follows.

- What do you think of this idea and the domain name I am using for it?
- Do you know of any similar forum?
- Would you like to add/delete any board? Why?
- If You were I, what would be your strategy to launch it so that webmasters get attracted?
- Any good place to advertise?

Although there are probably a couple forums like these out there, I like your idea. It's directly to the point trading, selling and buying webmaster services and products. A suggestion though, would be to add an announcements section at the top of the forum. I really don't know any specific site names that kinda have the similar idea like this, but there are probably a few.
I like your domain name aswell. It's obvious what the site is about. You could start your advertising here, but first I suggest telling close friends/webmasters that you know to join first, to get the flow going before releasing to the general public.

There is an announcement section at the top already. Dont know what do you mean by it. Can you please explain?

I don't think you have it, I don't see it. Basically you post site updates/news/or annoucements you need to make in the forum. And it should be the first forum everyone sees so if you need to post something to your users, that's where it goes.

oh, ok. I got it now. Actually SMF handles news section differently. We have it at the top.

he's not using VB so the announcements bit doesn't work the same on other boards... his announcement is on top right / low is referring to a sticky within a forum or an announcement that sits in the top just above the forums

slightly off-topic but TAZ had a thread on this issue. they believe that forum sign-ups are somewhat heavily related to software used (vb / ipb / swf / phpBB) was the order of preference from end-user standpoint...

Looks very nice, ads fit in well, however I do not know that you can dedicate a whole site to such a specific topic

JStep, the reason why I am dedicating a whole site to it because I want to save some precious time and efforts of all webmasters like me.

You see you have to go to different forums, do ultiple posts, then following up with multiple sites and at the end you may not get the thing you want or be late for it.

Now think if there is such a forum like webmastertradecenter with a good number of webmasters coming there it would have been farly easy to trade as the webmasters will come there with a sole intention to trade and you can get your bargein.

The idea sounds really exciting, and it's the first time I encountered a forum solely devoted to just trading between webmasters. Other forums might have subforums for trading, but usually just link exchanges, etc. Btw the domain name is very catchy!

You're doing it right with advertising it on a popular forum like NamePros, maybe you can also advertise it on other popular webmaster forums to generate more traffic.

Btw, I registered as Momo, made an intro thread, and also started a trade thread! I'm checking out the other threads to see if there's anything I could trade hehe.

Definetly a good idea as like you said you have to search a few forums for "trades"

I definetly like to trade names/hosting etc.. mainly for script instalations and design work.
1 thing i would change is the top section of the site,It looks a little clustered for my liking and some people might get "confused"

It is a great idea and you should definetly keep at it.

But there are alot of other forums about the same topic
Which means not alot of members
And well to me SMF kinda sucks I just hate it for some reason,
So I think you need a better software,
Maybe pick another topic that you can relate to

I like the idea of your logo, however its farely choppy on the text, and the logo picture has a fuzzy appearance to it.

Nothing has been done to customize the forum at all, it is the same way it was when you uploaded the forum script. Id suggest custom making some buttons, and maybe changing the colors and adding custom gradients.
