Nice animation, I think i'd use something besides white for the background though. Kids tend to like flashy colors and lots of animation so you are halfway there.

only comment will be maybe you can make the Q look a bit more flexible, looks kinda stiff. See what you can do with the lower partof the Letter.

When I say kids I mean like 6th and up.

I just made the BG and set it up in more of a header type

Pitufo, im trying to work on that Q, i dont think im gonna get very far because of how it splits from the smiley.

Byline text is too small -- it's microscopic if not viewed with the browser expanded!

It's not a bad design. Shows ingenuity. Like how the smile becomes 2 Qs, and visitors will like the cleverness too.

Looks great with the sky background. I prefer it in the blue but the red doesn't look bad either. Very nice work. Will be interesting to see the site when you get it finished.

I like the last one too. I think the only change you should make is change the font size of the small text.
