![]() ![]() | NEW Developer / Webmaster Site for Review DevTalk.Com? It's a soon to be developer / webmaster forum. It is a bit of a graphic intensive site and I'm curious to see what others think of the load time (is it too slow, or acceptable?) and how does it look in various browsers and what do you think about the colors and things like that. Any suggestions, feedback, or comments are welcome Dev Talk. |

![]() | It loads fine and the graphics look good. Nice colour scheme as well. You might want to do something about the topbar though. The height is a bit too big but otherwise: good work!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I agree that the top bar is too big, you are wasting space IMHO. I use a 17' screen. Your site works fine with Opera (8.50). I am enclosing screenshot + Konqueror on Linux too so you can see rendering is OK. Speed is OK with Opera, Konqueror may be slower. I suspect it has more do to with rendering and browser that the actual host speed. I notice there are a lot of images embedded. Perhaps you can optimize that with a style sheet, use repeat attribute for some bits maybe. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Looks great! Although, it takes a bit too long to load. Keep up the good work.

![]() | I like the look. It is a bit heavy on the sides -- using a bit of real estate --but looks professional. Couple questions to ask yourself: What is your differenciator (other than a sleek look)? Why would someone go to your board rather than one of the fifty others? |

![]() | It's stalls initially when loading the forumhome template (this is on broadband), but the other pages load fast. The color scheme may need a little work, since there isn't any contrasting colors to catch the eye (and for a programming site, if it's a "gray is good" (achromatic) type, all tints/tones/shades of gray would just do). Complementary color of green is red/Split-Complementary are red-orange and red-violet/Triadic are orange and violet, for color harmony suggestions. I personally use white/orange/gold/yellow colors with dark green backgrounds, since it can be read easier (btw, the bottom links are difficult to pick out, as they're too dark). ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-reviews/130155-new-developer-webmaster-site-for-review.html Considering the demographic, and that the smallest default resolution on XP is 800x600, you might like to increase the width to at least to 1024x768. It'll help prevent the fishbowl effect with those with 19" monitors at 1280x1024 and higher (a bane of fixed sized sites). Overall the design is good, and the only thing that it needs on the graphic side (besides the usual logo and such) is a better color scheme. Good job neithertheless! ![]() CKL |

![]() ![]() | Thanks everyone for the great feedback. And thanks sdsinc for the screenshots! I have now created a modified style for the lower resolutions to prevent the side scrolling. The modified style should also be a little less graphic intensive, and will also use up the entire width of the screen for any resolution which was sort of suggested. Now I will just have to go through all the feedback some more and see what else I can do. Oh, you can view the modified style here http://devtalk.com/index.php?styleid=4 |

![]() | It's been jelloed. Nice! Now those with larger monitors can view the forum without the staring-down-the-barrel problem.Like seeing the improvements. Keep us informed. ![]() CKL
