Its pretty good. It has a very organised look to it. But like what you said about it, it may be a little to graphics-heavy, and thus resulting in pretty long load time.

That is one awesome layout, Im not entirely sure why its not good enough, its great!

Looks good. I like the colour pallette you've used but the font is a little to small.
