new Webdesigner seeks help

Hi i have designed my fist site.i know it is not great please offer me some advice to improve.Mysite

a couple of things that come to mind

> try and put a header for the page
> try changing the font, Times new roman very rarely looks good
> try putting the whole site into a box, it looks really open at the mo
> how come the first 5 games are boxed and the rest aren't?
> the colour on the links doesn't look too great.

Also, it probably can't be helped, but every time you go back to the "home" page it adds another link bar at the top.

Sorry if i sound a little too critical, im just trying to think of ways to improve it

Hey wildchild let's just start one by one to help him out. Let's tell him first to get a header. If you need a header I can create one fairly cheap for ya. You also need a logo...start there.

like Bryan said, the main thing for now is a header, and possibly integrate a logo into the header too

Try and get adobe photoshop, its one great program that can help you add alot of nice grpahics to your designs!

My adivce would be to get on google and find yourself some tutorials on basic webdesign using HTML.

Yeah, learning a little html would be nice. CSS styles would also be a nice.

Hey,

If this is your first site then you did a good job. I would start by improving it now. Create a header and logo.. put some css styles in the text and navigation and remove the gif .. it's kinda annoying.

well its a cricket ball and the site is about cricket and forumla one so id say there is a fairly strong correlation.

Pretty much, yeah, along with many other things. I can't even call it a web-design rather than a web-page, there's not much actully "designed" more coded, I'd say.

It is defintely not bad for ure 1st site. i agree with wildchild, put it all around a box, try designing a logo and changing the font. also if u can add a forum(u can pick up a template easy) adn have polls e.g. who dya think will win the malaysian grand prix mclaren or ferrari etc. loads of little u mite think are unnoticable will improve the look of a website.

ok...even though it might sound sarcastic, its not...
newwebpick has been lately (for who knows what reason) picking a lot of OLD OLD SCHOOL type sites like yours....consider entering it into their reward thing and you might get one....if you cruise thru their winners you will see (along with amazing ones) some old school ones
