coreywhite is an unknown quantity at this point

Corey White Design

Hello, everyone. My name is Corey White. I am in the process of starting a freelance web design business, and I would appreciate a review of my website at http://www.coreywhite.com. I was trying for a clean, simple, and professional design. The page is valid XHTML 1.0 strict, and I have used CSS for both layout and formatting.

I'm particularly interested in:

1) Load Times
2) Clarity of Presentation
3) Attractiveness
4) Professionalism
5) Appearance on Different Browsers (There are problems with Mac IE, but I haven't noticed anything major on other browsers.)
6) Visual Interest (I.e., is the white background too boring? Is the diagonal line background in the far back too subtle?)
7) Ease of Navigation

Thanks so much for looking. I'd appreciate any feedback you can offer.

Nice site. Very simple and clean.

However, i dont like how the menu stays a different colour for a second after youve moved your mouse to another menu item. I dont know why. Also do you think the orange and the green go together? The orange looks a little bit browny.

Thank you, everyone, for the kind comments. I'm glad that you like the site.

I've had a couple of comments on the header from other sources - some people really like it, and think its simplicity matches that of the site, while others think it is too large and clashes. What do you think?

DanTO7: I am assuming that you are using Internet Explorer. That is the only browser on which I have noticed that problem. The reason is that my rollovers use only CSS, without Javascript at all. This is, I feel, the future of web design, but for the time being there are slight browser problems. The rollover works well in every other browser, and I don't believe the IE problem is crippling . . . I'm not sure if you've tried it, but it's actually very hard making a graphical rollover using CSS . . . this is (I think) the best that can be done with IE's incorrect CSS implementation. Thank you, though, for the comment. Does anyone else feel that the bar is too brown?

Thanks very much, again, to those who responded!

Your design if very simple, looks professional, and the content is great!

Many web design firms try to put all their technology know how into their web design site --- I feel the place for your "know how" should be in yuor portfolio, and you have done just that.

Great Job!

I think the header is what finishes it up perfectly. There's nothing wrong with simple. Keep at it. A few additions here and there could make it even better, but nothing large.

I think the layout is too plain. It needs something, I can't put my fingers on it. First off I think that the layout is good but the coloring seems to be off somehow. It is like the body doesn't have enough content of some sort. The buttons also look huge.
