Design review

Hi all,

Please could you give me your views of:

http://www.rich-media.co.uk/winton/

It's very rough so far.

It's looking very bland. Any ideas how to improve it?

Cheers,

Richard

Perhaps a side banner (or advertisment) on the far right? Instead of a black navigation bar (and footer bar), try to incoperate a good looking gradiant or something? Play around with borders and it should look a lot better. It's not bad though.

I think it looks good. It looks better than a lot of school websites I've seen.

Hi all,

I've had a play around and come up with a few variations:

http://www.rich-media.co.uk/winton/index2.html
http://www.rich-media.co.uk/winton/index3.html
http://www.rich-media.co.uk/winton/index4.html
http://www.rich-media.co.uk/winton/index5.html

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Richard

Hey,

It's simple but it looks kinda good - i like it. A little more work on the header is required tho.

All the best,

- SW

yeah i like the designs with the emblem in the background, and the light blue news bar, i think it looks very clean cut, and serves the purpose well

Thanks everyone for the comments.

I have another question - maybe slightly off topic for this forum.

How much do you think the design is worth? I know it's not as easy as slapping a price on it, but approximately. Usually for a design of that kind (HTML, CSS and a few pictures) and with what they want (about 22 pages, CMS, a news system) I'd say about £700/£800 ($1225/$1400). As they're my old school I'm charging £650 ($1140).

I know there are going to be a range of opinions, but do you think I'm overcharging/undercharging at all?

Cheers,

Richard

It really comes down to how a combination of how long it will take and the level of skill required, but i think what your quoting is about right. Its about what i would charge anyway.
