New Site

I have recently finished my new site in flash, for my new web design company. I am 16 years old, and would really appreciate any comments and also constructive critisism and personal views on the entirety of navigation and style. Thank you very much.

You could start by not using FLASH as the main site, ive only ever seen a few decent site thats been done in flash and those are usually dynamic.

Yeah I also suggest that you stay clear of flash until you have quite a bit more expirience in it.

just out of curiosity, what turns people off flash? Sorry if it might seem dumb, but I dunno. Sorry if it took long to load for you, the file isnt too large, takes less than a second on my connection after cleared the cache.

Hello,

What turns people off flash ? well, the most important thing in my opinion, after the launch of a web site is search engine optimization and flash is just not good from this point of view. This is really the only thing I dont like about it.

All the best,

- SW

thnx SW that actually makes sense which is cool. I mean obviously meta tags in the page help slightly but yer it wont be high up. But then again I'm still in 2 more years of education so probably not the best thing to have too many people ask for websites just yet.
Cheers bhyraj, shows there can be 2 completely opposing views to the same site. Appreciate it.

Ignore bhyraj comments. he says the same bloody thing in EVERY SINGLE post he replies to!

i gotta agree with the comments about flash. it shows your very early with your flash building and its a little uninspiring. reminds me more of a power point presentation than a webpage with all those sliding images and text :-/

If i was you id take everything you have and make this into a standard .htm page. from there i wud perhaps start to implement parts of flash that you really want to explore. perhaps just flash navigation buttons for starters.
Stray away from those sliding images etc...looks naff!!!
also why is your actual page so small?
aslong as it doesnt scroll left to right its ok.....but u shud think about adding more content to each page to lengthen it out a little to make the site look 'more like a site' rather than a stamp in the centre of the screen.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-reviews/103826-new-site.html

keep practicing your flash...its nice when its done proper. but for now i think u need to merge more html with flash til you really get to grips with the design aspects.

good luck,

Carl.

thanks carlb, thats actually really helpful, yer it's just design aspects which i should change, as you say the wipe looks naff. Also I've made it small, because some people I know still use 800x600 resolution on a little monitor so its the most compatible sizes I've found. I've done way more inspiring things before, I thought for a business site I should keep it more simple. But yer if it looks naff I'll spice it up a bit. I'll post again I think when I've reworked parts to bring it up to an innovative and inspiring style Can I ust ask, does

i think it does, i think the animation makes it look a bit cheesy when used too much... the menu is pretty good though, and the media player is really impressive.

but i think the gradient idea on the Mailing List thing looks a bit basic

btw all this is just my opinion, and im no professional

Hi dentedrums, Welcome to namepros.

I am sorry, but i really dont like your website. The animations look shoddy and things happen very slowly. The site may as well not be flash. You have use no real "flashy" effects, 90% of that site could be don't just by using html and you could just drop the other 10% as it just looks dated.

The photos you have used look very out of place. Did you use a picture of a random keyboard on a random bed for a reason? It just looks like you have put no real effort into the design of this site and just stuck different things in different places.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=103826

I don't like the font. The face, size and color. The font is way to big and makes the site feel chunky and looks as if you were just trying to fill up space. The blue font is quite hard to read on the blue background. Also, why change font color half way through? It just dosn't make sense.

On the Projects page, the "completed" projects box loading animation looks totally stupid. Is it ment to do that, or was it just... a mistake.

I also don't like the gradients on the forms on the contact page. Very 1999.

I am not trying to flame you, i am just giving your my honest opinion of your website. It is obvious that you have put alot of time into it and the last thing i want is for my comments to put you off. You obviously have talent you just need to give it a little bit more thought.

hey i dont take offence lol I like opinions, thats what web design is based on, the opinion of the majority of the people. This is the first feedback i've had from people who know web design. It's different. Even if people say 'yer, shit!' i dnt care. open is always good

damn, well i don't know what to say. It's going to be updated shortly anyway, making it a bit more inspiring than it is currently. So I'll repost when I've done it, and see if there are any new reactions
