![]() | Well, here are my thoughts... Essentially you have an incredible service here. Very accurate results, quick responses, and a very functional layout. Looks superb. Unfortunately, your site is an also-ran. What differentiates you from the competition? Can't be site features, because a9 has you beat by a mile. Can't be site design, because google's extensive HCI research means that they're pretty much guaranteed to always kick-ass with hyper-functional layouts. Can't be index size, because google's index is roughly 1,800 times the size of yours. And it can't be integrated services, because, well, you don't have any, and Yahoo does. All of this adds up to a very big question, which is the essence of your problem and leads to a poorly constructed business model: why should users search on your site over any other? Do you plan on using deceptive marketing techniques to get people to search on your site? Why should I, a user who has already searched once, return to your site to search using it again? General questions aside, I have some technical questions: - Are you tapping into any search API's to get your results (doesn't appear to be a9, google, yahoo, or ask, and I'm guessing the answer is no given your index size)? - How have you gone about building up your search index? - What kind of search algorithms are you using to come up with your results? Are you looking at network structure, page content, or some combination of both? And some business oriented: - What are your goals with the service? - Do you plan on creating a unique search process to later sell to existing search engines a la early google with yahoo? - Have you gone looking for funding? Sorry for all the questions but I'm insanely interested in structured data mining techniques and, in particular, the pagerank algorithm. I think you have a great service here but i'm affraid it won't appeal to any markets unless the idea is retooled a bit. Best of luck in doing just that! Ed
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-reviews/103063-heeble-the-searchengine.html And, assuming that it takes about 15 seconds to enter this thread, type, and send that response, and that namebucks are trading at $.016/NB, you could make an OPTIMAL wage of 7.68/hr if you enter and respond to every thread at that rate. Given that you really are more likely to respond to about 30 posts/hr max to avoid suspicion, you'd be making more along the lines of $.96/hr. THE BOTTOM LINE: is the effort even worth it??
