Does your host provide cpanel? If so a good place to start is submitting through that.

Individually try:

http://docs.yahoo.com/info/suggest/

basically... hand pick the engines you want to be listed in and submit. also search for free site submitters.

and also, to get higher in the search engines, you need as many sites linking to you as possible, if you spam your site you risk being banned from search engines

I was about asking the same question. Thanks StudioWorks, very helpful.So basically any website linked to your signature get indexed?

I think that Google never add these individual submissions, don't know why.

Basically yes. If the forum where you placed the link in your signature is crawled by search engines your site(s) will get indexed ( sooner or later ).
