![]() | Frontpage designes for IE only, it looks really bad in other browsers and offers little to now support for standards or CSS (depending on your version). Although I recommend against WYSIWYG editors, Dreamweaver is a far better alternative to Frontpage.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Dreamweaver is the most popular in the professional market of web apps. Also for coding CSS try Topstyle its the best choice for coding CSS as it lets you cleerly visualise your CSS while editing.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Frontpage is useless in my opinion. As is the "lets hand code everything" option. The thing with hand-coding is, it takes so long to code a decent site and you can not optimize your time. With a WYSIWYG editor, it makes the code for you. Now, granted, this code may not always be perfect, but when I run DW MX2004, a simple quick read through of the code gets rid of all the errors. Older versions of Dreamweaver are not good, but the latest, Dreamweaver MX 2004 is excellent. I'd recommend (from personal experience of hand-coding and DW) the Dreamweaver, WYSIWYG editor is the best option! ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-design-discussion/82714-do-you-use-ms-frontpage.html Frontpage will never be able to compete with Dreamweaver. That is a simple fact. There are some hand-code patriots but, I guess we all have our opinions on the subject and there really is no straight answer to the question - it is just whatever works for you! |

![]() | I always use it to customize my slicing, i.e. when I slice a PSD temp in photoshop, I replace the image with empty space and put the image as a cell background. The rest is done manually. I don't like that sometimes it looks good in the PREVIEW but it's all jacked up in the browser. |

![]() | Those of you who use Notepad, check out Crimson Editor. It color codes, tabs (like Firefox) and other cool stuff. CE is the best, IMO. I also do image work/slicing in Fireworks which is an excellent program.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I learned to code with NotePad but anyone that thinks it's still the best way to code is either stubborn or a sucker for punishment. Last time I used FrontPage (a few years ago) it produced ugly, ugly code. I have been led to believe that FrontPage code is much better these days than it used to be though. I have been using DreamWeaver for a couple years now and have been impressed with how compact and clean the code is. You can always switch to code view or load your code into NotePad to clean up the occassional DreamWeaver yuk. |

![]() | I guess that's why I am doing so much in Fireworks now. The trouble is though, with that I am unable to use CSS-P which is so light and fast loading. So many choices, so little time. ![]() Never never use FP though. I've only seen one person produce good reults using FP in the 5 years I've been deigning websites. He runs http://www.webokay.net This is the ONLY person (I've seen) who uses FP well.
