CSS Layout Headache...

i'm having the most horrible time trying to build a template for my blog.

I've never used css to layout pages before and have been stuck using tables, after constant pressure from peers i decided that the best place to start would be in building a template from my blog.

Basically the problem i'm having is i've designed the layout in photoshop and it looks ace. cut all the bits up and started buliding the page. i came to the conlusion i would need 4 div layers for it to work. one at 0x0px one at 0x150px and one at 0x630px.

this gives me three colums, one for the logo, (to the far left)

one for the background (150px which has a table set to 100% height, as the background is made of an image at the top which is 460px tall a repeating 1px tall image and a 50px bottom image)

and one for the menu to the far right (630px in)

now the fourth layer would be where all the content sits (and being a blog this could get quite long)

the problem i'm having is in getting the backround layer (with the 100% tall table in) to stretch to 100% of the avialable browser height when the content layer (the one that could get really big) does.

I've tried absolutely everything i can possiblly think of to get it working.

As i've said i've not got a great amount of experiance in css layout nad would appriciate your help. source files and code etc. available if needed.

many thanks guys n gals.
