First locate the .css file and in that file search for
body {
background:#CCCCCC; }
change the color code of background from #CCCCCC to the color code of your choice.

What technology based site is it? If it is in ASP.NET, then the chances are there must be a master file for each page. Locate the master page by having a look at the extension of the page (it is .master). Then locate if any background property present. If it is not there, it means that the property is present in the CSS of the site. Search the CSS and look for the background property and it will be easy to modify it. You can get color codes (hex codes) for many of them online.

Hello !
A simple way of doing it is to open your html file in Dreamweaver and open the modify tab on the top. Click on page properties and then you will view the option of background image and background color etc. From there you can choose your background color of your choice. Its quite simple. Simpler than CSS. Though CSS is a good way to do it too. But the above mentioned process will give you the desired results in a jippy .

Best of Luck

if you're talking about the site in your signature..

then go to /public_html/wp-content/themes/your-theme-folder and open style.css file.. and change background from

body {background: #CCCCCC url(http://wac.658e.edgecastcdn.net/80658E/namepros/images/background.gif); }

#CCCCCC is color example.. images/background.gif you background image.. if you want to use another image.. you must upload image in your theme-folder/images directory and then change background.gif with name of your background image. if you want to use simple background color instead image then remove url(http://wac.658e.edgecastcdn.net/80658E/namepros/images/background.gif) and its all fine.

if you're talking about any other site.. then you must locate CSS file in order to change background. process will be same as i mentioned above. and if its simple HTML page without any CSS code.. then go to code and find background="" in <body> tag and change color or image.
