![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | link question When you link to pages within your own website, is it better to put the entire http address or or should you put just the file name? I have noticed that my website performs different depending which way that I link. And does it matter to search engines? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | always include http://(www.)domain.com because a sub domain is like http://sub.domain.com - http:// (Hyper Transfer Type Protocol) so this is the protocol type - www. (Word Wide Web) is the Host - yourname is the domain - .com is the extention So it is all information that is important!

![]() | no, no, no. if you are linking an outside site, use http:// etc BUT if you are linking pages within your web site just make the links like this: <A HREF="link.html">Link</A>. Only link the file name cos if you ever change your domain then you're gonna have a lot of trouble changing all the URL's |

![]() | for purposes of consistency it is generally better to put the full URL for every link whether it is internal or external. However, if it is a high traffic site I may be more effective to use just page & folder names as this will slightly lower the bandwidth usage. |
