I'm wondering what it would cost have a site like Sedo.com made for me. Some estimates would be nice. Also if anyone is able to do a site like this let me know.

Thanks

Hi,

Just post the job on Rent-A-Coder, and you'll get a large number of cheap offers.
The hardest part will be finding the coders who speak really good English.

Also, you might get a better deal if you hire one person to do all (or most) of the front-end design, and someone else to code the PHP and create the database. This second option requires a lot more knowledge on your part (in order to create the job descriptions)

Good luck.

I know someone in the real world who paid a 'professional' company over $30,000 to develop a site which is less complex than Sedo. If you shop around, I'd guess it could be done for something like 1 to 5k.

If you look at the "My Sedo" drop-down menu there is 15 or 16 links which all require database queries. Now, those queries are not extremely hard to write, but *real* companies don't work cheap.

Another option would be to use PHP Pro Bid (you can see a heavily customized non-active site using that of mine at bqb.com)

At the end of the day, we are talking thousands of dollars if you want more than a little customization done to readily available auction scripts. Getting a decent web designer to make you an aesthetically pleasing homepage like Sedo would most likely set you back 1k just then and there.
