I have very good idea and i hope that it would be a differnet kind of forum..... so it will worksss...

It takes a lot of hardwork to get a Forum up and running!

however you have to purchase a licences.

You need a forum software, as you are a newbee choose a free one like SMF, PHPBB etc upload them on a free host that provides mysql and after some settings you are done.

PhpBB is probably best for you if your new.

1. Get a web host , there's some very cheap hosting plan(1$ per month) offers here : http://www.namepros.com/web-hosting-offers. If you are very new to web hosting , i suggest get a host with fantastico and cpanel for easier use.

2. Get a domain for your forum/site. ($10 at most for a .com )

3. Set up your forum through fantastico instant script installation ( easy to install , don't worry ). Phpbb forum will do fine.If you have trouble , ask your web host for help.

There ! You have your very own forum ! $10(domain)+$12(web host)=$22, easy and cheap !

Once you have your forum , start advertising through spamming , inviting your friends etc. Advertise as much as you can and i'm sure your forum will do well. If you need writers/posters , you can go to the NP incentives forum and pay NP$ for posters.

I disagree. Once you have a forum you need to focus on generating content specific to your forum's industry. If you're launching a web design forum, you should focus on new trends in web development, showcase new tools being released to the industry and ask questions you know are easy for users to answer.

Hire some friends, family to generate your content or go with a paid to post solution from some folks here on NP.

If you want to move quickly and not put so much effort into starting this up, buy an established forum with active users/content from a seller for $1500 - $2500. In the long run it will save you a lot of time and energy.

I have one of those communities waiting to be sold. It has +10k posts, +5k threads of Quality posts & articles, +5k members and a great domain name with vbulletin software ready to go. If you're interested PM me. I'm in the biz of buying, developing and selling internet properties.

Alright , i agree with your post above , your post above is one of the things to be done once the forum has been set-up. Get the content and then advertise.

You can start with a free forum script like SMF. Its bit hard to seo a forum so better put the fourm in " www.site.com/forum ". That way you will able to make some static pages and optimize.

I am a newbie to all of this also and was thinking about a forum for one of my domain names. I registered the name with GoDaddy. Used coupon paid $7.99 with privacy. I got a hosting plan with a different company (found coupon for $40 off)so $4.90 a month for unlimited hosting. Pointed my parked domain towards the new host.
And then using simple scripts installed a forum I think it was the Phpbb one Brendon mentions. It was really easy.
I decided not to develop that as a forum for now as I have some other web projects but it was pretty easy to do.

2. get a good theme (for free or get it designed)
3. start the forum, make categories, make a logo.
4. promote it all over internet.
5. keep ads on your forum at prefect positions.
